The District is pleased to announce that Jr.-Sr. High School Science Research students Aleksandra Holub, Jacob Lerit and Camryn Warsaw garnered first place in the Poster Session at the National Synchroton Light Source II annual User’s Meeting, held at Brookhaven National Laboratory on April 28. The students presented their work, “Combating Antibiotic Resistance with Structural Biology: Striking Out the Enzyme Beta Lactamase.”

Judging was conducted by an ad-hoc committee of BNL scientists assembled by the Users’ Executive Committee, who evaluated submitted presentations on the quality of the poster, the presenters’ oral communication skills, and the presenters’ ability to answer questions about their research.

The District congratulates the students on this outstanding accomplishment.
