The ESM community was treated on April 24 to an evening of carnival fun during the district’s fourth annual Special Education Parent-Teacher Organization Carnival, presented by SEPTO, the National Junior Honor Society, the Best Buddies organization and the Jr.-Sr. High School Theater Department. Previously known as Disability Awareness Night, the fun-filled evening was packed with carnival games, a Chinese auction, refreshments, two puppet shows in the Black Box Theater and a 50/50 raffle.
The purpose of the carnival was to provide a bridge between mainstream and special needs students and to bring a greater awareness of the importance of the district’s special education program.
National Junior Honor Society members provided the games, including cup stacking, ping-pong toss, Tic-Tac-Toe, ring cone toss and more. Members of the Best Buddies program were also on hand to accompany special needs students.
