ELEMENTARY CONTENT OVERVIEW

Overview

The Spanish FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary Schools) curriculum designed in alignment with Checkpoint A of the NYS World Language Standards offers a comprehensive educational experience. This program combines elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education to enhance language learning with hands-on, interdisciplinary activities. It integrates TPRS (Total Physical Response Storytelling) to engage students actively in language acquisition through storytelling and interactive experiences. Authentic resources, such as literature, music, and cultural materials, are woven throughout the curriculum to expose students to real-world language usage and cultural nuances. This holistic approach introduces young learners to the Spanish language and nurtures their curiosity, critical thinking skills, and cultural awareness, preparing them for a globalized future.
