Riding the "Late Bus" Home

Any student staying after school at the High School only, may ride home one of several buses offered at 3:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. each school day. Buses running at these times are typically referred to as the Late Bus. To board and ride the Late Bus, students must have a signed bus pass issued from one of the below listed sources:

  • A teacher or staff member with whom the student received extra help or took part in extracurricular activities.
  • An administrator in the Main Office or East Office
  • A coach for a student participating in a practice or game

Students without a signed bus pass will not be permitted to board the Late Bus.

Students can locate the Late Buses in the bus loop at the North Entrance of the High School beginning at 3:10 p.m. Typically there are five buses available. These buses travel to different parts of the School District.

Students can learn the correct bus to ride home by reviewing the list of bus routes and bus stops posted near the North Entrance of the High School or at the Athletic Director’s Office. The list of bus routes and the stops the Late Bus makes is also posted as a link at the bottom of this page.

Students may also ask the on-site Security Guard which bus is traveling to their home address. Students can also ask bus drivers which bus is traveling to their home address. Bus drivers are familiar with all of the Late Bus routes taking students home and can help students find the correct bus to ride home.

Late Buses travel abbreviated routes or "trunk routes." This means the buses do not stop at the usual assigned bus stops as they do for the morning arrival and regular afternoon dismissal bus routes. The Late Bus makes stops at corner intersections or at other reasonably safe locations as they take students home. Students will typically be walking further than they do for the morning arrival and regular afternoon dismissal bus routes.

Stops and routes for the Late Bus are fluid and are subject to change as the students that utilize the bus change each day throughout the year.
