During the May 17 board of education meeting, the Eastport-South Manor Central School District approved three appointments.
Stephen G. Posselt was appointed director of K-12 social studies,
effective July 1. Mr. Posselt began his educational career in 2004 at
the Lindenhurst Union Free School District where he taught social
studies at Lindenhurst Senior High School to both general education and
special education students. Since 2014, he served as the district’s
coordinator for secondary special education. Mr. Posselt holds a
Bachelor of Arts in American studies from SUNY Old Westbury and a Master
of Science in elementary education from Dowling College. He also earned
a Doctor of Education in literacy studies at Hofstra University.
Justin Grover was appointed director of mathematics, effective July 1.
Mr. Grover began his career in 2008 as a mathematics teacher at St. John
the Baptist Diocesan High School, where he was the recipient of the
Educational Excellence Award in 2013, and became mathematics department
chairperson in 2016, where he held the position for three years. He was
also assistant principal of St. Agnes Cathedral School Grades K-8 before
serving in his most recent position as assistant principal at
Eastport-South Manor Jr.-Sr. High School since 2021. Mr. Grover holds a
Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from the University of Rhode Island and a
Master of Science in adolescent education from Dowling College. He also
received certification in educational leadership from Stony Brook
University.
Kristyn Pellegrini will replace Mr. Grover as assistant principal of
Eastport-South Manor Jr.-Sr. High School, effective July 1. Ms.
Pellegrini began her career in 2012 as a Spanish teacher at Longwood
Junior High School where she currently teaches. She also served as a
Spanish teacher and English as a new language teacher at the Longwood
Central School District for the district’s Late Afternoon Program from
2020-2021 and as an ENL and Algebra co-teacher in the district’s Summer
Remediation Program. Ms. Pellegrini earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish
education from Siena College and a Master of Arts in teaching English
to speakers of other languages from Touro College.
