Teacher-Parent Contact Days

  • Communication between parents/guardians and their child’s teacher is paramount to a student’s success in the classroom.  This school year, the Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School is supporting this idea by instituting Teacher/Parent Contact days throughout the year.  A parent-teacher conference should not be the only time a parent and teacher communicate. Contact days are scheduled to facilitate an ongoing dialogue between parents/guardians and teachers after progress reports for each quarter.

Our goal is to develop plans to support students to improve their outcomes prior to the end of each quarter. In order to achieve this goal, teachers are provided these contact days to email, call and hold meetings with our parent partners to address concerns regarding students.  Due to this change, we will not be utilizing TeacherReacher and parents should not come up to the school unless they have a scheduled appointment.  Teachers and counselors will schedule all appointments on an as needed basis.

It is imperative that we maintain ongoing communication, therefore if you have a concern about your child’s progress in a specific course, email the teacher so he/she can contact you to address your concern.

This school year, our Teacher/Parent Contact Days will be held on the following Wednesdays from 12:40-3:15 p.m.

    October 24

    January 9

    March 20

    May 29

Please note that on these dates, all students in the Junior-Senior High School will follow an Early Dismissal bell schedule.  This alternate schedule will include all nine periods and allow for a two hour early dismissal of students on all of the dates.

Please be aware that teachers will not be able to honor any unscheduled appointments.  We are confident that the Teacher/Parent Contact days will be informative and productive.  If you have any concerns about your child in multiple classes, you may call our guidance department at 801-3271 for assistance.
