Elementary Social Studies

Our K-6 Social Studies curriculum is aligned with the K-12 Social Studies Framework and the New York State Social Studies Standards. The social studies standards are spiraled through the K-12 Social Studies Framework. The curriculum is designed for students to engage in the role of social scientists.

Students engage in the Inquiry Design Model, which is a project based, collaborative examination of historical events and time periods.

We utilize the Putnam-Northern Westchester Integrated Social Studies-ELA (PNW SS/ELA) resource as our core instructional resource. The PNW SS/ELA is aligned with the Social Studies Framework and NYS Standards. The online platform provides a blend of online and text resources for teachers and students to utilize.

In grades 4-6 students and teachers supplement their core instruction with Social Studies Weekly. This print and online resource is aligned with grade level content and is a great source for non-fiction text.
