Mr. Robbins Bio

  • I'd like to introduce myself, tell you about me and my family.  I've been teaching at Eastport Elementary for 21 years, spending my last eleven teaching fifth grade.  As you can tell from the homepage, I am a life long, passionate Pittsburgh Steeler fan.  I also love The Beatles, especially Paul McCartney, his band Wings created some of the greatest music I know during the 1970's. Trust me, you will get to know a lot about the Steelers, Sir Paul McCartney, and The Beatles this year (along with other important stuff like math, social studies, and language arts).  I also follow, watch and love an English soccer team known as Queens Park Rangers, QPR for short.  My absolute favorite hobby of all is the study of film.  In my free time I do a lot of writing, screenwriting to be exact.  I've written at the Southampton Screenwriters Conference, where I got to learn from real movie writers.  I also was one of only 100 sem-finalists out of almost 4,800 screenwriters in the "Scriptapalooza" writing competition.  Other than teaching and the interests I've mentioned above, the most important thing to me is my family. I've been married for 22 years to my high school sweetheart, and have three beautiful daughters. Rebecca is 20, Julianne is 18, and Serena is 13.  I have a lot of embarrassing stories about them to share throughout the year.  All three work very hard at school.  Beck is in her third year at the University of Albany studying Financial Market Regulation.  Jules just started at York College of Pennsylvania and is studying to be a registered nurse.  Serena is in 8th grade, and works very hard in her free time sewing and baking.  My wife is a registered nurse and has been working at Stony Brook University Hospital for 23 years, she also spent three years working for the March of Dimes.  She currently works for Continuous Quality Improvement.  We also have a beautiful little female Havanese named Rooney, she named after the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I've included a picture from 2007 of my daughters at my favorite place in the world to visit, London.  In the picture you'll notice Big Ben, Parliament, and the London Eye.  I've also included a picture of us crossing Abbey Road, a street made famous by The Beatles.   I know a lot of about Great Britain, have close friends who live there, and I look forward to sharing that with you as well this year.  I hope you are as excited as I am about the upcoming year.  I've also included some more recent photos of my family.  I look forward to meeting you all in September.
