Reading

  • Children should be reading for 20 minutes at night!

A weekly log will be going home and your child will need to respond to their reading.

Learning to read for a variety of purposes is essential for success in school and learning in general. As an elementary student, your child may be asked to read for pleasure or he may be asked to read to learn new information. In both cases, solid reading skills are necessary for success.

In class, we will have many opportunities to read and share books.  Your child will be reading a variety of genres for various reasons.  Shared reading, independent reading, guided reading and interactive reading will be incorporated into your child's learning opportunities.
