Grade 8 Art
Welcome to Art!
Mrs. Jamie Walsh
Extra Help: Thursdays
8th grade art will be filled with lots of fun and creative projects. We will review the elements of art (space, form, color, texture, value, shape, line) as well as incorporate the principles of design (contrast, movement, rhythm, balance, unity, pattern and emphasis). Perspective, making things look three dimensional, is a large part of our curriculum.
Each student will need the following supplies:
- 2 Pencils
- Portfolio ($5 at school store)
Please bring these materials with you each day or leave them in your portfolio. Your portfolios will be stored in the art room.
Grading is based on:
- Projects 50%
- Homework/class work 25%
- Effort and behavior 25%.
Parents: My goal is to motivate students to express themselves visually and creatively through their artwork. They will not only be creating art work, but will also build a foundation of art knowledge, skills, and techniques. Throughout our lessons together students will express ideas, think critically, develop fine motor skills, and identify aesthetic qualities in a variety of artwork.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to the creativity your child has to share and lastly I thank you for your continued support of the art program!
