I-Ready Assessment Continues
This month, students in grades 3-6 will continue to participate in the i-Ready diagnostic assessments for Reading and Math. Students in the Hybrid Model have been taking the diagnostic with their classroom teacher during days in which they are in school. Resources to support caregivers of remote only students have been shared with families during a recent webinar, led by Dr. Christie, on September 30th.
Upon completion, results will be shared with students as they set their goals for online instruction.
The Playground is Open!
Students will once again be able to access the playground during recess.
First, there were the ducks who decided to lay their eggs under the slide causing the playground to be closed. Then, it was the closing of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the playground at Eastport Elementary has been given the green light to re-open.
On Monday, October 5th, Principal Hender announced that the playground would be open to one class per lunch period as long as strict safety guidelines were followed. These guidelines included:
- Students will be required to wear a mask anytime they are in the playground area. Mask breaks will be permitted outside of the fenced area for students who wish to take one.
- Students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer prior to and immediately after using the playground equipment.
- Sporting equipment will be issued to each class and will be sanitized each day prior to use. No sporting equipment from home may be brought in at this time.
So far, so good, as students report looking forward to going down one of the many slides within the playground.
