Standard & Poors' Global Ratings
Standard & Poor's Financial Services LLC (S&P) is an American financial services company. It is a division of S&P Global that publishes financial research and analysis on stocks, bonds, and commodities. S&P provides the world-wide banking industry with what amounts to the credit score for municipalities like Eastport-South Manor CSD. The rating ESM receives from S&P is important because it reflects the District's credit-worthiness. If the District's credit is strong, then it will receive better interest rates when it borrows money. Lower interest rates means the District saves money.
