Students Create Connection Between STEM and Literature

Building a bond between literature and STEM activities was the focus of a recent lesson led by Tuttle Avenue and South Street Elementary School librarian Cindy Norman.

After reading “Room on the Broom,” by Julia Donaldson, students engaged in STEM activities inspired by events that occurred in the book. Students constructed a broom for the witch and her friends with Legos, built a “pumpkin roll” that they could guide a ball on using KEVA planks and concluded the activity using their imaginations to create other items from the story.
