Science Students Study at Stony Brook University

Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School Science Research and Advanced Placement Environmental Science students traveled to a Stony Brook University laboratory to learn about ongoing research programs related to the Shinnecock Bay.

As part of the educational visit, students assisted in the laboratory’s efforts by collecting data for its water quality projects and will use the findings from those samples for presentations at the Stony Brook Symposium in January with the hopes of earning internships.

In addition, students learned of several current lab projects, including ocean acidification, harmful algal blooms, shellfish survival and whale survival in the Northeast.
