Eastport-South Manor Celebrates Homecoming

School spirit shined bright this past weekend as the Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School held its annual homecoming celebration with a series of fun-fueled events that began Friday afternoon and culminated with the football game on Saturday, Sept. 28.

On Friday, emphatic cheers of excitement echoed throughout the Junior-Senior High School gymnasium as students in grades 9 through 12 gathered to kick off the weekend’s festivities with the annual pep rally. Dressed in four separate colors representing the different grade levels, students showed support for each athletic team as they were announced one by one. Interwoven within the announcements of each team were captivating performances from the student choir, marching band and percussion band, who were joined for a special performance by building principal Salvatore Alaimo.

As the festivities continued into Friday evening, the Junior-Senior High School hosted its annual bonfire, where community members gathered to show support for the school’s athletic teams prior to the much-awaited homecoming game.

During Saturday’s game, the Eastport-South Manor Sharks took on the Rocky Point Eagles in a back and forth battle that included a flurry of scoring drives by each team. The Sharks closed out regulation with a touchdown and successful extra point conversion that forced overtime, but they could not hold on as the Eagles took home the victory with a close score of 35-36.
