Local Firefighters Teach Fire Safety to ESM Students

In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, students at South Street School and Tuttle Avenue School welcomed firefighters from the Manorville and Eastport fire departments for a visit focused on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
During the visits, firefighters spoke with students about what to do in an emergency and emphasized the importance of smoke detectors and having a family meeting spot in case of a fire in the home. Students also saw the protective equipment firefighters wear while responding to emergencies. Outside, students explored the fire trucks up close and learned about the tools and equipment firefighters use to help protect the community.
The visits provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn important fire safety lessons while strengthening their connection with the local first responders who help keep their community safe. The Eastport-South Manor Central School District appreciates the Manorville and Eastport fire departments for taking the time to educate students and reinforce the importance of fire prevention.
