CLASSROOM NEWS

Message from the Principal:

Welcome back everyone! We are off to a wonderful start. This year we are beginning the program with 18 students and 2 applications pending approval. Our graduates from 2010-2011 are currently in the workforce or attending college. We enjoy hearing about their continued success. The journey for this year will allow all of us to work hard and diligently to achieve our goals. I know it will be a great year !

Welcome to Geometry,

For the first few weeks, students will be introduced to Logic, Truth Tables, and Formal Direct Proofs.  My goal is to have these topics completed by Thanksgiving break.  Attendance is essential for students to be successful in this course as every class we will learn something new.  Remember, we all use math everyday!

Thank you,

Mr. Albers

Physical Education/Health:

This week in PE students will be playing soccer. We will be dribbling, shooting, and passing. Students are participating and enjoying burning off some of the stress from their hard work .

Science Ms. D'Agosto

Oct 21, 2011 – This week we reviewed basic mapping skills, did 2 labs on latitude and longitude, and learned how to construct a topographic profile.  We will follow-up by practicing the formula for gradient and doing more topographic profiles.  I’m especially proud of John Cunningham and Nicole Miller for showing much enthusiasm and class participation.

October 28, 2011 – We will need to review topography and gradient some more even though Giorgiana Mondi, Sabrina Spooner and Jessica Colley have it down pat.  It isn’t an easy thing to do.  But I will be sure the students get enough practice and understand.  I’ve been pressing them to hand in any missing labs and they are starting to come in and I’m glad.  Happy Halloween!

November 4th, 2011 – We have finished Topic 2 and will now move onto Topic 3 which is Astronomy!  Having such motivated students such as Nicole Torres and John Riva is awesome! And I will not forget the valiant effort put forth by Carlos Garcia-Rice.  The end of the 1st marking period will be this Thursday so I am hoping all past due/late labs will be handed in.

December 11, 2011 – We have finished Topic 3 and will be having a unit exam on Tuesday, December 13th, 2011.  The students in my science classes are awesome; A truly nice bunch!  We are getting to know each other and we are free to speak our minds when we need to.  Keep up the good work guys!!!!  I’m proud of your effort! One more topic before the Christmas break folks!

Monday, January 16th, 2012 - A reminder to all students: Your science packets are due back to my by Jan. 26th, 2012.  No exceptions....No packet equals a zero!

Friday, Jan 20th, 2012 - Science Packets due Thurs 1/26/12.  No Exceptions!  This is part of your Meteorology grade.  Also,

Unit test on Tues Jan 24th, please study!

 Global History & Geography

Global History  & Geography is a tough class because we have to cover 12,000 years of history in a few months, but we have everything we need to do it!  Can you guess what it is that we have? (Hint: It starts with A-T-T-I-T-U-D and ends with E.

This is a chance to do things right, to do things your way and to show everyone that you can be a success.  While the Neolithic Revolution and the philosophy of John Locke may not get you excited, what will be exciting is knowing that in my classroom you will learn something every day that you did not know.  So, lets get going...

Mr. Carilli

This Week: Industrial Revolution

Next Week: Imperialism

 Government/ Economics

United States History and Government uses a chronological instructional approach to the history of our country highlighting significant events, people, places and themes.  In this class we will start back before man was even on this continent we call North America and will work our way up to discussion of what is going on in our country today.  Without understanding what has happened to us in our past we cannot understand where we are as a nation and where we want to go.

This week we will be discussing the Colonial Era and how our nation was formed.
